You don't have to do this alone and you definitely don't need to know it all!
Don't just take it from me, here's Hannah's experience...
In Term 4 of my first year, I received a new student who exhibited some really challenging behaviour. Within a week I was frustrated, in tears and at the bottom of a barrel of out-dated, ineffective strategies that I had sourced from those around me. Through this new student, it was made obvious to me that I had an enormous gap in my knowledge surrounding trauma informed practice and I knew going forward I had to address this.
While I was proud of surviving the year and determined to keep going, I was exhausted. In 2023 I moved states, managed to obtain another year-long contract in a school with a positive culture and felt quietly confident with my classroom management. With neurodivergent learners in our learning community, once again I felt I wasn’t doing my best to support them.
The approaches I had adopted felt like I was trying to coerce these learners into doing their work, which didn’t feel like the right strategy. On top of this I was pushing myself (as all new grads do) to keep up with the experienced teachers around me. By the middle of the year, I was physically and mentally tired.
We wrote essays about differentiation and teaching ‘the whole child’, but with no understanding of how the brain works. I lacked practical skills on how to hold space with a child who is dysregulated. I had no idea what sensory seeking was and needed to find a way to better support one learner when an emotional outburst occurred (because the previous year’s reward/consequence model was no longer working).
In addition to this, life as a new grad was a bit daunting. Being at a new school I was hesitant to do things differently, so I started looking for support.
The first time I played around in the TGGM Library I watched a webinar on emotional intelligence. During the webinar Em modelled a few lines that could be used when children are experiencing big emotions. The next day one of my students was having an outburst and, having listened to the webinar the night before, I was better prepared to interact with this child. The difference it made to their response was astounding. I was calm, there was no power struggle and within a couple of minutes the child transitioned to their set activity.
From that moment I was no longer worried about doing things differently because I had experienced the benefits of a calm and compassionate approach when supporting a child. I have gained so much confidence from tapping into Em’s knowledge (as well as the guests experts). From reframing my mindset and how I perceive certain situations, to focusing on praising the process students undertake rather than the outcome. When I watch a video, I set an intention to try and put one thing into action. It’s never perfect but I keep getting better.
I remember the first time I engaged with one of Em’s polls and being genuinely surprised that she responded as quickly as she did. That speaks to her unwavering commitment to having a profound, positive impact on the heart of the education system – teachers. Every new grad needs someone like Em in their corner, sending you good vibe voice notes to reassure you that everyone makes mistakes and, some days, just by showing up, you’re doing an awesome job. Within the space of three months I’ve gone from worrying about not being good enough to knowing that my best is more than enough.
I am a much calmer educator who continues to strive on embracing a non-punitive approach to classroom management. That looks like taking more time to talk to students in my class and out on the playground, implementing more brain-breaks and having more fun!
The Education Library has been an incredible resource I have been able to tap into when I come across a challenge. I love the focus on emotional intelligence and self-care because that is where good practice starts.
What I the love most is that Em weaves her own experience with the latest evidence, helping to bridge the gap between theory and practice. I love that the TGGM community is, like me, continuing to grow and evolve. Em leads by example – taking messy action – and is the most positive, self-aware leader I have ever engaged with. I am excited for being a part of the much-needed change our education system and learners need.

I am the only teacher on my stage so am left to do a lot of things myself which is quite challenging as a first year teacher. TGGM has been such a massive help for literally everything from navigating working relationships, programming help and supporting student behaviour. I was able to manage the environment and chaos that the classroom can be some days. I was able to be reflective and bounce ideas off her to improve my practice. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough and would say that if you are new to teaching, you won’t find a better mentor. Working with Em was an absolute dream, and I am certain I wouldn’t be the teacher or person I am today without her.

I really struggled with feeling confident about all of the different aspects to teaching and how to have a work/life balance but Em knew exactly how to walk me through it all at a pace I could comfortably keep up with.
Before working with Em I was taking school home with me every night, which was definitely not sustainable! She always managed to deliver new information so simply that it didn’t overwhelm me at all. Em’s overall approach to teaching, specifically her philosophy around teaching the child before the student, was so insightful. She gave me so much perspective to help understand how my students felt in certain situations and how to best nurture their growth.
One thing I can guarantee is that Em will always give you a laugh and make the transition to teaching as smooth and enjoyable as possible!
– GRACE
Her guidance and support helped me build confidence in my abilities. She always provided practical advice that was easy to implement, making my teaching experience more enjoyable.
She has a way of breaking down complex concepts so that they are easy to understand and apply. Her mentorship has been invaluable, and I’m so grateful for the impact she has had on my journey.

You want to last longer than a year or two in this profession (sad I know, but it's our current reality)
- You want to learn how to teach using a non punitive, trauma informed, neuro-affirming approach (say hello to fostering safety, inclusivity, SEL and saying NO to relying on rewards and punitive consequences)
- You're willing to carve out time to dive into the Education Library (so much gold in here) and take what you learn to put into action!
- You're the type of person who takes radical responsibility for your own life. This program IS NOT a quick fix, you won't find bandaid approaches here
- You want to build your emotional intelligence so you can become solid AF in all the situations you encounter as a teacher
- You want to use approaches that rely on extrinsic rewards and punitive consequences eg. raffle ticket systems, detentions etc.
(sometimes schools have these things enforced, we help you get around this!)
- Aren't interested in aligning with best practice. We ensure that the information is evidence informed. #thescienceofreadingalltheway #rewardsdontwork #proteacherwellbeing
- You use 'time' as an excuse. This
program requires you to give it a little time. It doesn't have to be much, but to be able to truly embody this approach and utilise the absolute gold in this program, it requires some commitment and energy from you (I promise you it has the power to transform your career!)
BONUS: I'm adding in a live co-working/Q&A call every school holidays in 2025

This Signature Program is aimed at Primary Teachers (teaching students ages 5-12 years old) however it can be adapted and suited to Early Childhood settings. For example, if you teach Pre-Primary, this will definitely help you!
It is beneficial for teachers who are casual, part time or full time.
We have also had a lot of experienced teachers join who want to change their approach from an authoritarian approach to an authoritative approach.
If you're unsure, feel free to ask me more questions. Email me [email protected] or message me on Instagram @em_gentle
Most lessons in the module library are between 5-30 minutes long. Teachers are busy enough, so we try to keep the lessons as short as we possibly can. We also prioritise ACTION TAKING.
You have access to a roadmap and cheat sheets and checklists to keep you on track and ensure that what you're learning, you put into practice!
No more overwhelm and cognitive overload and hello to consistent up-skilling and reflection.
It is all self paced!
The Education Library is full of bite sized lessons for you to access at any point in time because hey, new teachers are flat out!
This allows all learning to be self-paced so that you don't become overwhelmed!
I also wanted new teachers to have access to relevant support and education all year round (GOODBYE to one day PD's and courses you'll never use).
There are suggested modules to watch first, and a roadmap and checklists to follow to keep you on track.
If you can commit to TGGM Grow for 30 mins per week, you will absolutely smash your first years!
Have you seen our case studies and testimonials? Don't just take it from me!

You will ABSOLUTELY benefit from TGGM Grow. We are here to be an unbiased support, outside of your current school.
This program is focused on guiding teachers so that they can become calm, connected and compassionate educators.
